The Interchange Pass Through method you are asking about is available usually only to higher-volume merchants but it is definitely cheaper!

Is the "fee-based" method, i.e. the processing company only charges .01% ($1 per $100 charged) no matter what kind of card is used and regardless of amount charged, legimate. This method is in lieu of "tier based" charges as you have described.
Sounds too good to be true. Just don't know how to "trust" and/or verify what the company is telling me. Tks, Pam

Some of the most important work I do as an account executive happens after the sale, when the customer has questions, problems or otherwise needs customer service. They know they can call me, and I just got a call at 11:30 pm last night from a customer having trouble batching out their terminal. Down the road, this leads to referrals from those happy customers, it's just good business to take good care of my clients. There is much more to this business than just trying to offer "the lowest rates."

Good starter info. Business owners must take payment processing/acceptance more seriously. If you don't ask the right questions, then any answer you get will do and won't matter. Once you find out the right questions to ask, start avoiding Sales Reps/Companies who give you no answer, evasive answers, or 'smart' sounding answers that further confuse you. If the beginning of the business relationship does not fit, then it won't get better by adding time and especially being locked up in multi-year contracts.
Also, don't get bullied by high pressure sales tactics because a good deal today will be a good deal next week.
One great thing to ask is "do you have any testimonials of your service"/ "customer reviews"??? Does that Sales Rep/ Company have ANY happy customers?
